LANDSCAPING ENGINEER

Landscaping engineer designs, plans, and implements outdoor environments by combining civil engineering principles with an understanding of horticulture and environmental science to create sustainable, functional, and aesthetically pleasing spaces like parks, urban areas, and commercial developments. Key duties include site analysis, grading and drainage design, stormwater management, and erosion control, along with producing technical drawings, bills of quantity, and overseeing construction to ensure adherence to design and sustainability standards.

Key Responsibilities
Design & Planning:
Develop landscape designs from concept to completion, producing detailed working drawings and specifications for softscape (plants, turf) and hardscape (paths, patios) elements.

Technical Expertise:
Apply engineering knowledge to design site grading, drainage, irrigation systems, and other infrastructure to ensure functionality and structural integrity.

Environmental Management:
Implement sustainable practices such as erosion control, stormwater management, soil management, and habitat restoration.

Collaboration:
Work with architects, urban planners, environmental scientists, and construction teams to ensure integrated and cohesive project outcomes.

Project Management:
Oversee project implementation, manage budgets and schedules, prepare bills of quantity for tendering, and ensure construction meets technical and sustainability standards.

Site Analysis:
Conduct detailed site assessments to understand soil conditions, local ecosystems, hydrology, and other environmental factors.

Skills & Knowledge
Engineering Principles:
Strong foundation in civil engineering, especially in grading, drainage, and site development.
Horticulture & Environmental Science:
Understanding of plant selection, soil types, irrigation techniques, and environmental impact.

Technical Software:
Proficiency with design and planning software to create detailed technical drawings.

Communication:
Ability to effectively communicate design concepts and technical information to clients and other professionals.

Project Management:
Skills in planning, budgeting, and overseeing the construction phase of landscaping projects
