GEO ISO Engineer

Experienced Geospatial ISO Compliance Engineer to lead and support the alignment of
geospatial data, metadata, services, and data product specifications with the ISO 19100
series standards, particularly, ISO 19115 (Metadata) ISO 19115-3, ISO 19131, ISO 19157

2. Metadata & Service Compliance

• Design and validate metadata profiles (national/organizational)
• Implement XML-based metadata using ISO 19115-3 schemas
• Develop and enforce validation rules (XSD, Schematron)
• Ensure compliance of geospatial services (WMS, WFS, APIs) with ISO standards

3. Conformance & Testing

Design conformance test suites aligned with ISO template
Develop:
Compliance checklists
Validation scripts and rules
Automated testing workflows
Conduct gap analysis and certification readiness assessments

4. Capacity Building & Advisory

Provide technical guidance and training on ISO standards
Support teams in metadata creation, QA/QC, and compliance processes
Prepare documentation, SOPs, and best practice guidelines

5. Qualifications

Education
Bachelor’s or Master’s in:
Geomatics / GIS / Geospatial Engineering
Surveying / Remote Sensing
Computer Science (with GIS specialization)
Experience
10+ years in geospatial data management and GIS systems
Strong experience in ISO 19100 series implementation
Experience with national mapping agencies, SDI, or large GIS programs
Technical Skills
Strong knowledge of:

ISO 19115 / 19115-3 (metadata)
ISO 19119 (services)
Experience with:
XML, XSD, Schematron
UML modeling
Geospatial web services (WMS, WFS, REST APIs)
QA/QC frameworks and audit processes
Preferred
ISO Lead Auditor certification (ISO 19000 series)
Experience in NSDI / national atlas / digital twin initiatives
Knowledge of cloud GIS and enterprise architecture
Deliverables / KPIs
SO-compliant metadata and data products
Validated geospatial services
Conformance assessment reports
