Role Summary
As a Creative Arts & Music Teacher, you will design and deliver a joyful, developmentally appropriate arts and music curriculum for children aged 5–11. Beyond classroom teaching, your role will enhance the school’s creative culture through interdisciplinary collaboration, visual storytelling, and community showcases. You’ll also support the school’s external identity by liaising with branding and marketing partners to document and share student creativity.
Key Responsibilities
Curriculum Design & Instruction
• Teach weekly visual arts and music classes for primary learners.
• Develop a hands-on, cross-disciplinary curriculum including rhythm, voice, movement, and mixed media.
• Organise seasonal performances, exhibitions, and student showcases.
• Partner with staff to embed artistic practices into other subject areas.
• Lead or support school-wide creative initiatives (e.g. murals, themed weeks).
• Encourage artistic expression through inquiry, reflection, and improvisation.
• Mentor students with strong creative interest or potential.
• Maintain portfolios and track student progress.
Essential Qualifications & Experience
• Degree or certification in Art, Music, Education, or Creative Pedagogy
• Experience teaching visual arts and/or music to learners aged 5–11
• Familiarity with developmental stages in early and primary education
• Competence in arts integration and inquiry-led teaching approaches
Desirable
• Experience designing or facilitating creative events or projects across the school community
• Ability to document learning through media (photos, video, text) for communications use
• Comfort working with branding or communications teams on visual storytelling
Personal Attributes
• Empathetic, creative, and collaborative in working with young learners and adults
• Highly organised and self-directed with strong interpersonal communication
• Passionate about learner agency and the role of the arts in holistic development
• Adaptable and enthusiastic contributor to a dynamic school environment
