A reputable Wood Works Factory Hiring – Experienced AutoCAD Specialised in 2D/3D Production drawings.
The job description for an AutoCAD drafter in a woodworking shop focuses on translating architectural designs into detailed, production-ready shop drawings for custom cabinets, millwork, and furniture.
Key Responsibilities
Create detailed shop drawings: Produce accurate 2D and 3D technical drawings using AutoCAD software for manufacturing and installation purposes.
Generate material lists and BOQs: Prepare comprehensive cutting lists, Bills of Quantities (BOQs), and material take-offs to support procurement and production teams.
Coordinate with internal teams: Collaborate closely with designers, project managers, the factory/production team, and site personnel to ensure design feasibility and alignment with project goals.
Revise and update drawings: Modify designs based on client feedback, site conditions, and requests for information (RFIs), maintaining organized revision control and documentation.
Ensure compliance and quality: Verify that all drawings meet industry standards (e.g., Architectural Woodwork Standards), building codes, and quality specifications.
Provide technical support: Offer timely technical assistance and solutions during the fabrication and installation phases.
Required Skills and Qualifications
Proficiency in CAD software: Expertise in AutoCAD is mandatory, and knowledge of other relevant software like SolidWorks, Inventor, or Cabinet Vision is a plus.
Woodworking knowledge: Strong understanding of wood materials, construction techniques, and finishing processes specific to cabinetry and millwork.
Attention to detail: A high degree of accuracy is essential to ensure all dimensions, materials, and procedures are correct for manufacturing.
Communication skills: Ability to communicate effectively with various stakeholders, from clients to fabricators, to clarify design specifications.
Problem-solving abilities: Capable of defining problems and finding practical solutions within design and production constraints.
Experience: Typically requires 3-5 years of experience in a CAD drafting role, specifically within the wood manufacturing or joinery industry.
