Low Current Engineer– Job Description

Overview

A Low Current Engineer is responsible for the design, installation, testing, and maintenance of low voltage systems that support building operations and safety. These systems typically include fire alarm, CCTV, access control, public address, data networks, and other ELV (Extra-Low Voltage) solutions. The role requires strong technical expertise, problem-solving skills, and coordination with stakeholders to ensure compliance with standards and project requirements.

Key Responsibilities
Design & Planning

Prepare and review designs, shop drawings, and schematics for ELV/low current systems.

Ensure designs comply with international codes, local regulations, and client specifications.

Perform load calculations and system integration planning.
Installation & Supervision

Oversee installation, termination, and commissioning of low current systems.
Coordinate with civil, electrical, and mechanical teams to ensure seamless integration.
Ensure installation meets quality standards and safety requirements.
Testing & Commissioning

Conduct system testing, troubleshooting, and commissioning of fire alarm, CCTV, access control, and communication systems.

Verify functionality and compliance with design intent and contractual obligations.
Maintenance & Support
Provide technical support for ongoing maintenance and upgrades.
Diagnose system faults and implement corrective measures.
Ensure minimal downtime and continuous system reliability.
Documentation & Compliance
Prepare technical reports, operation manuals, and maintenance schedules.
